O’Donnell signs a contract extension

Cameron O’Donnell has extended his stay at the Indodrill after signing a new contract up until 2024.

The 20 year old has appeared seven times this term with his set pieces and trickery being particular highlights. He made his Alloa debut back in 2019-20 against Inverness and will continue to develop with the Wasps.

Brian Rice, speaking to the Alloa Advertiser:

“He’s started the last two games and we’ve won the last two games so he’s got himself in the team at the minute, he just needs to keep doing what he’s doing and keep improving.

It’s all there for him: he’s left-footed, he’s quick, he’s a really good crosser of the ball. All I keep saying is I’ll give them the opportunity and it’s up to them and it’s exactly the same for Cammy.”

SCOTTISH FOOTBALL POSTPONES PROFESSIONAL MATCHES THIS WEEKEND

Following meetings this morning, the Scottish FA, Scottish Professional Football League, Scottish Women’s Premier League, and Scottish Highland and Lowland Football Leagues have agreed that all professional football matches will be postponed this weekend as a mark of respect following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

This postponement will also incorporate the Women’s Scottish Cup fixtures this weekend.

Rod Petrie, Scottish FA President: “We spoke with our counterparts across the UK this morning and in discussions with our colleagues across the professional game in Scotland it was agreed that this was the appropriate step to take following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“We will work with our clubs and members in the meantime to ensure appropriate steps are taken throughout the period of mourning.”

Neil Doncaster, Chief Executive of the SPFL, said: “Following consultation with the UK and Scottish Governments, the Scottish FA, our counterparts at the EPL and others, we confirm that all SPFL fixtures scheduled for this weekend will be postponed as a mark of respect.

“The passing of The Queen, a constant in our lives for 70 years, is a profound and momentous occasion. It is therefore appropriate that professional football marks this event with all possible solemnity.

“We will update clubs and supporters when we have clarity over official arrangements for Her Majesty’s funeral.”

Condolences at the passing of the Queen

All at Alloa Athletic FC are saddened to learn of the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Her Majesty was the longest serving monarch in British history, with an immense contribution not just to our own country but to many around the world.

Our condolences go to the Royal Family at this time.

Wasps Offord another loan

Kieran Offord, 18, has signed on loan from St Mirren. The young striker made his debut for the Paisley side in a 0-0 draw against Celtic under Jim Goodwin in December 2021 as St Mirren battled a COVID wiped squad but has drawn most of his plaudits from netting 11 times in 16 games at East Stirlingshire to fire them up the Lowland League table.

Welcome to the Wasps, Kieran!

Luke Rankin signs a professional contract

It’s been a dream week for the youngster. Impressing for the 20’s of Friday night. Coming off the bench against Peterhead on Saturday to make his debut. Scoring the final goal of the game with a powerful finish.

Add signing a professional contract to that list – it’s officially welcome to the Wasps, Luke!
