Albion Rovers at Recreation Park in 5-1 victory on 27th October, 2012 and the first by an Alloa Athletic player at Gayfield since Stuart Callaghan in 3-0 victory on 2nd October, 2004.

I don’t like losing goals but our overall performance was really well done, we moved the ball really quickly in spells which caused them problems but overall it was a good team performance, the boys worked hard to get their goals and I am delighted for Greig Spence but somebody has to create the goals for him, although he was in the right place at the right time someone has to create them and that is the team working hard to create those chances. Although Greig Spence and Liam Buchanan have not played together often there are early signs of a partnership forming but we are not going to overboard at the moment. We have beaten a team from two divisions below us and in fairness to them they were well organised but we worked well to break them down. The boys level of fitness has always been good since I became manager and this hardwork is what gets us the reward. This year we are going to be in a hard league but we are going to face the challenge head on. It is a great confidence booster but we will not get carried away as it is the first game of the season.
