allan maitland after league defeat

I thought that Stenhousemuir were the better team and deserved to win, they were first to most balls in the game , scored a fantastic goal , our goalkeeper had two good saves before that, the same in the second half as well Stenhousemuir still had a few chances I think we had three in the game, at which their goalkeeper made a great save in the first half and again he an excellent save near the end at the free kick. Stenhousemuir’s tactics were great they were first to the ball we didn’t handle that , we didn’t get quality players doing the right things we never managed to create enough chances in the game , we didn’t play enough football, the football that was played was played by the home team, and full credit to them they were absolutely on the button today and we weren’t. It frustrating for us to have players booked for dissent and that was an element of frustration. You do not win games by just turning up you have to apply yourselves and today Stenhousemuir applied themselves better than us, scored a goal which gave then some real encouragement and deserved the three points. This season we have done really well in games, today we didn’t do as well and that just shows you if you don’t turn up and play as well as you should do – then you will get beat its as simple as that.
