STATEMENT FROM WASP COMMUNITY CLUB
Wasp Community Club is building for the future with a renewed strategic focus and key appointments to strengthen its work across the local community.
Wasp Community Club (WCC) has announced a new phase of development as it continues to grow its impact across Alloa and the surrounding communities, with the appointment of Andy Japp as School to Community Lead and Paul Reilly joining The Hive team as Employability & Health Lead.
The appointments form part of WCC’s wider strategy to strengthen its four pillars of delivery – Employability, Education, Sport & Fitness, and Health & Wellbeing. Through these areas, the club aims to create more opportunities for young people, support individuals and families, and build stronger links between schools, football and the wider community.
Andy Japp joins WCC as School to Community Lead, taking responsibility for developing our grassroots programme and School of Football. Bringing a wealth of experience from Stenhousemuir Foundation, the Scottish FA and Stirling Albion, Andy will help grow participation across all ages and abilities, while creating a clear pathway for players to develop both on and off the pitch.
The aim is to give more people the opportunity to enjoy football, build confidence and life skills, and support those with the ambition and ability to progress through the Wasps pathway and represent Alloa Athletic. By balancing participation with performance, we want to ensure our grassroots game remains accessible to all while developing the next generation of Wasps.
Andy will work alongside Jayne Lindfield as WCC Secretary as they both look to grow our grassroots game. With Jonny McPhee taking full ownership of our Scottish FA Extra-Time Programme in the local schools.
Paul Reilly joins The Hive team, alongside Key Development Officer, Nicola Green, as Employability & Health Lead. He will aid the continued development of services that help people improve their wellbeing, develop skills and access opportunities around employability. His appointment reflects WCC’s ambition to expand its community provision and increase the support available to people across the area.
Together, these appointments represent an important step in the club’s long-term plans, with a focus on developing its people, strengthening partnerships and delivering sustainable community impact.
General Manager, Kieren Mooney said:
“This is an important step forward for Wasp Community Club as we look to build on the work already taking place and develop a clear direction for the future.
“Our four pillars give us a strong framework to grow what we do, reach more people and make sure our work has a lasting impact. Bringing Andrew and Paul into a strong team already, strengthens our capacity to deliver on those ambitions.
“We want WCC to continue to be a place where people can access opportunities, build confidence and feel connected to their community. These appointments are about putting the right people in place to help us achieve that.”
Wasp Community Club will continue to work alongside Alloa Athletic Football Club, local schools, community organisations and partner agencies to develop its services and maximise the positive impact of football and community activity across the area.
