WASP Community Club is continuing to strengthen its commitment to the local community and support Alloa Athletic’s wider drive to develop all areas of the club.
Jenna Woods, who currently plays for Alloa Athletic Women will work closely with our local partners and schools to create more opportunities for girls and women to play football in the area.
The appointment follows a similar progression to the newly-appointed Women’s Manager, Jill Leiper, who will also liaise with this role as a represenative for the senior team. The transition from player to a role within the Community Club shows the club’s focus on creating opportunities for women to take on roles across the football pathway.
As part of the role, Jenna will also look to develop accessible opportunities for girls, including women’s fitness and football sessions on Sundays, free access for early-years schools through the Scottish FA Disney platform, and free access to sessions at all three senior academies.
The focus is on practical opportunities, increasing participation and creating a clearer route for girls within the club.
I’m really excited to be taking on the role as Girls and Women’s Coordinator.
Jenna Woods, Girls’ & Women Co-ordinator
The future of women’s football starts with opportunity and I want to create a pathway where young girls can develop.
If their goal is to make the senior team, hopefully, seeing me gives them a role model and shows them that pathway is possible for them too.
We have spoken at length as a Club about how we improve all facets of our football offering through the Alloa Athletic and Wasp Community Club.
Kieren Mooney, General Manager
This is one of the steps towards that and I am delighted that we have Jenna in place to drive that project forward.
