After Ross County win
Allan Maitland after the Ross County Game
I think for an end of season game that was the most open game I have seen all season – it finished 2-0 but it could just as easily have been 3 or 4 each to be fair. I think that Ross County had that many changes in their team - it can work for you or it can work against you the players who come in feel they have something to play for and they have got that care free attitude when they have already won the league. There were times when they were attacking us, they had bodies all over the place and in a normal game you wouldn’t see that. From our point of view I thought that we had to be a wee bit more defensive than we would like to be particularly in the first half but we had chances as well. I felt our set pieces were good today, Derek Fleming played a big part in that and it always looked as though we might score from a set piece, obviously having Andy Ferguson available was a big boost for us and he proved his worth with his goal. I think the first goal itself, Chris Townsley is claiming, Adam Coakley is claiming it and Andy Ferguson is claiming it so between the three of them one of them has obviously got it but there was no doubt about the second goal. A great result for us with two games to go we are in fourth place it’s a fantastic achievement we just want to make sure we are in fourth place come the 36th game of the season if we can and let us try and extend the season a wee bit longer. Special mention should go to our goalkeeper Raymond Jellema when we were at level pegging he made two great saves that kept us in the game – he’s done that all season and you almost just expect it – sometimes you don’t even mention him but he was great today as was Chris Townsley I have to say. It was a good day for us and we will see where that takes us. |
