Alloa Athletic are now back in pre season training and the club would like to confirm the pre season campaign as manager Allan Maitland gears up his squad for another exciting season ahead.

The draw for next season’s Stirlingshire Cup 2008/09 has paired Alloa Athletic with Stirling Albion and Falkirk, who between them have been the winners since 2002, the last team other than Falkirk or Stirling Albion to win the trophy was Stenhousemuir in Season 2001/02. Alloa Athletic last won the trophy in Season 1996/97 when they defeated Clydebank 4-3 in the final at Recreation Park, the last time “The Wasps” reached the final was in Season 2000/01 when they drew 2-2 with East Stirlingshire, before losing 6-5 on penalties. This season will again be played in two sections, with the winners of each section progressing to the final. Dates for these fixtures will be confirmed as soon as agreed, however the group fixtures must be played before 31st August, 2008. Full Draw – Section One Stenhousemuir v.   The officials for Wednesday night’s SFL First Division Play off Semi-Final 1st Leg against Clyde at Recreation Park, will be – Referee : David Somers, Assistants : Stuart Macaulay and Craig Young.  
“The Wasps” reached the SFL Division One Play offs after a nervous final game victory over Berwick Rangers, edging the game 2-1. Alloa Athletic now face Clyde who being a Full Time team will be favourites to go through over the two legs. The 1st Leg will take place at Recreation Park, Alloa on Wedneday night, 30th April, kick-off 7.45pm. Admission will be Adults £ 12, Children and OAP’s £ 6, Alloa Athletic season tickets are valid for this game. The 2nd leg will take place at Broadwood, Cumbernauld on Saturday 3rd May, kick-off 3.00pm.
