    Hartley signs striker

    Wednesday, July 31, 2013 1:13:15 PM

Alloa Athletic manager Paul Hartley is delighted to have secured the services of young Aberdeen striker, Declan McManus on a six month loan deal. The highly rated striker who was top goalscorer in the SPL Under 20 league last season has been allowed to go out on loan by Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes to gain valuable first team experience. Ex Scotland and Aberdeen manager Craig Brown, recommended the player to Paul Hartley, Declan is a very promising young player, his goal scoring in the Under 20 league is remarkable and it's obvious he is a natural finisher. Aberdeen have high hopes for him, but think it is his interest to gain first team experience, playing first team football hopefully will make him a more accomlished player, which could be good for everyone concerned. He has been patient for his chance at Pittodrie, making eight appearances as substitute, but his opportunities have been limited due to the form of Niall McGinn. Declan has signed a new deal with Aberdeen until the summer of 2015. Declan will be available for "The Wasps" for Saturday's League Cup tie against Peterhead at Balmoor Stadium when he will celebrate his 19th birthday, hopefully with an Alloa victory.
