    Positive talks for new season

    Thursday, May 23, 2013 2:09:11 PM

After the euphoria of winning promotion to the First Division and back to back promotions, manager Paul Hartley has had the job all managers hate in recent days, speaking to his players and having the unfortunate job of having to let some of his players go, as he starts to plan ahead for next season. The manager has released four players – Mark Docherty, Martin Grehan, Blair Munn and Ross McCord, the manager and club would like to thank the players for their commitment and help moving the club forward. Also leaving the club will be Calum Elliot who had already signed a pre contract with Livingston, all other players have been offered new deals to stay with the club, and while the manager is positive about keeping the nucleus of the squad and adding some more new faces, it will be down to the budget for next season, but early talks have been positive. Paul Hartley hopes the players will decide what’s best for them but will look for answers from the out of contract players by the end of next week.

Looking ahead to the close season, the manager has decided not to send a team to the Oban Tournament this season and will look to do something different. The draw for next seasons Stirlingshire Cup has been made, Alloa Athletic will play East Stirlingshire at Recreation Park, with the winners due to play Stirling Albion in the next round at Recreation Park. In the other side of the draw Falkirk will play Stenhousemuir, with the winners due to play Dumbarton at Dumbarton in the next round.
