Alloa look forward to kick starting season

    Friday, October 17, 2008 4:31:15 PM

Alloa Athletic are looking forward to tomorrow’s game against Arbroath, and kick starting their second quarter of the season, having been so disappointed at results and performances in the first quarter. Everyone at the club is fully aware of the need to improve and start picking up vital league points. On Tuesday night we played a bounce game against Whitburn Juniors at Recreation Park in a game all the first players apart from Fraser Forrest, Scot Buist and Dougie Wilson played some part, the game ended 3-0 to Alloa with goals from Pat Scullion, a well struck goal after 17 minutes, and an Andy Ferguson double on 43 and 50 minutes, a result which the players can take great confidence from, scoring three goals and not conceding at the back. However as we prepare to meet John McGlashan’s side for the second time this season Scot Buist, David McClune, Steven McKeown, Dougie Wilson and Jamie Stevenson are all doubtful for tomorrow’s game, while Jamie Hay and Greig Spence will be added to the first team squad.John McGlashan the Arbroath manager would dearly love a repeat performance. he said. "The key point in that first game against Alloa was that we took the majority of our chances, something we have failed to do in recent games." Andy Reilly has joined Carnoustie Panmure on loan. The Gayfield boss explained: "We've put Andy out as I just felt he's missing a wee bit of sharpness in front of goal." He added that Bryan Scott is back in full training but is some way off match fitness. There is also increased concern for Paul Watson whose initial hamstring injury may in fact be due to a back problem. Alan Rattray, the game against Alloa looks to soon, but maybe next week he will be back. One new face who will feature for Arbroath tomorrow at Recreation Park is David McGowan who joins from Clyde on an emergency loan until 17th November, 2008.
