    Season kicks off at Stranraer

    Friday, August 05, 2011 5:55:11 PM

Paul Hartley will launch his campaign to return Alloa Athletic back to the Second Division this weekend, this will be the first time since Season 1997/98 that “The Wasps” have played in the Third Division and not since Season 2008/09 has the team travelled to Stair Park to play a league fixture. When on their last visit on 28th February, 2009 when “The Wasps” won 3-1 with goals from Brown Ferguson, Stuart Noble & Iain Campbell, all of whom are no longer with the club. Paul Hartley has had to build his squad over the last five weeks in preparation for his 1st season in football management, the pressure is something in today’s game of football that is an accepted evil, but Paul Hartley and the Alloa Athletic players start the campaign, excited and looking forward to the challenge. For tomorrow’s opening league fixture, the manager will be without Ross Philp, due to long term injury suffered towards the end of last season against Brechin City and Craig Campbell who is serving a one match suspension carried over from last season when playing for Nairn County in the Highland League.
