    Alloa await FIFA clearance

    Alloa Athletic manager Allan Maitland has strengthened his squad prior to Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against Raith Rovers. The manager has signed Michael McGowan on a short term contract on his return from playing football in the league of Ireland with Dundalk. However before Michael is allowed to make his debut the club are awaiting FIFA International clearance to allow the player to return to Scottish Football. The request has been lodged with FIFA and the club are hoping to receive clearance in time for Michael to play on Saturday. Michael who is now 25 years of age began his senior career with Stenhousemuir, before moving to Dundee, in season 2005/06 he moved to Clyde where he was to made over 100 1st team appearances, in July, 2008 he moved to Queen of the South before his move to the League of Ireland to rejoin his old Clyde manager, Joe Miller, who was assistant manager at Dundalk. Michael has also been capped by Northern Ireland on 3 occasions at Under 21 level, this season Michael has been training with Rangers and been on trial with St.Mirren, he also recently played for Alloa Athletic in bounce game against Shotts Bon Accord. At the same time Allan Maitland has decided to release young Declan McAvoy and Hugh Kerr will go on loan to gain more first team experience with Shotts Bon Accord.
