    Looking ahead v. East Fife

    Friday, February 12, 2010 4:29:35 AM

Our recent form has been excellent with only 1 defeat in our last 11 league games, including a victory at East Fife, and we must look to continue winning our home games if we hope to mount a serious challenge to Stirling Albion and Cowdenbeath. It would certainly be nice to have a comfortable win and to relax before the final 10 minutes but the nature of this league is that all the games will be tight and I certainly expect that again on Saturday. East Fife will be disappointed with their defeat last weekend at home to Dumbarton, despite player/manager Stevie Crawford scoring 2 goals, and they will desperate be to get another victory to give them a chance of a play off spot. They have so many attacking options with Paul McManus, Bobby Linn and Stevie himself that we will again need to concentrate fully when defending and hopefully make the most of the opportunities that come our way. There is no doubt that this will be a difficult game but after the excellent performance on Tuesday I expect us to be well prepared and focused on the job ahead. Mark Gilhaney has trained the last two weeks and will return to the squad this weekend. Kevin Welsh has been training this week and we hope to have him available for the game against Cowdenbeath on 20th February.Scot Buist and Chris Townsley both look as if they’ll be out for the remainder of the month and we hope they will return for the Clyde game on 6th March. Dougie Wilson is making good progress and we hope to have him doing some longer runs this week as the next step in his recovery. We had a couple of knocks on Tuesday but I expect everyone else to be available for Saturday.

    A happy Allan Maitland
