    Ross County preview

    Friday, July 24, 2009 4:42:31 AM

We go to Dingwall on Saturday for our first competitive game of the season, we go there in form and good shape, this is not based on results at this early stage of the season but the way things have been taking shape during pre season. I think that the players who have come in - David Crawford, Scott Walker, Mark Brown, Stuart Noble and Brian Carrigan have all done really well. Stuart Noble has not played as much as we would have liked in the pre season but he has now got himself fit after picking up a knock in the Oban Tourament, which we won, and he will be fit for Saturday. We will have a squad of 17 travelling to Dingwall for a game we would really like to win, I know some people feel the Alba Cup is maybe not the one to win but in terms of the old Challenge Cup this is our ten year anniversary , since winning the trophy in season 1999/2000, and it would be nothing better for our supporters than to progress through this tie and aim to get into the final again and reclaim the trophy. This is only the start of a long season but we hope to improve dramatically on last season and we are looking forward to Saturday’s game. I have signed Stephen Hall as back up goalkeeper to David Crawford, Stephen has impressed in pre season games and was outstanding in the recent East Kilbride Tournament. Mark Ferguson and Stevie Barker are going out on loan to Shotts Bon Accord and it is my intention for Jamie Hay and Hugh Kerr to go out on loan to Bo’ness United. Adam Coakley who has done so well for us in pre season has not been signed, due to the fact I could not guarantee him first team football every week and I also do not want to hamper the chances of Greig Spence and Hugh Kerr who we are hoping to improve again on last season and that the step to being important first team regulars. I would like to thank Adam for his commitment and hope he gets the opportunity to play regular first team football, which is what he needs just now.
