    Wasps look for home advantage

    Friday, August 10, 2018 3:59:52 PM

Tomorrow we welcome Greenock Morton to the Indodrill Stadium in our opening home league fixture in this season’s SPFL Championship, the last time the sides met on a league fixture at Alloa was back in Season 2015/16 when the sides drew 2-2 on the 9th February, 2016, “The Wasps” goal scorers on that day were Colin Hamilton & Dougie Hill who are no longer at the club, indeed of the Alloa Athletic players who were involved on that day only Steven Hetherington is still with the club.

It was disappointing to lose such a late goal at Dingwall last week and get no reward for the effort of the players and how well we had done in defence. When chances come in such difficult away fixtures they need to be converted, had Greig Spence put us ahead with the best chance in the first half it might have been a different outcome but nobody could fault the effort of the players who will look to collect vital league points as soon as possible and get us off the mark.

Manager Jim Goodwin will have Iain Flannigan back in the squad for tomorrows match against Greenock Morton after he missed last Saturday's match at Dingwall through suspension carried forward from last season, Kevin Cawley could also return after he suffered from a back spasm last weekend, Ahmed Aloulou could also come back into the squad after picking up knock in pre season against Berwick Rangers. Unfortunately David Galt will not feature after having left the club by mutual consent, we wish David well in the future.
