Good afternoon and welcome along to the Indodrill Stadium for the second leg of the play off semi final against Airdrie.

We are disappointed to lose in the first leg, it is disappointing but its only 1-0 at the end of the day, I thought Airdrie were the better team on the night and I’ll give them credit for that, we allowed them far too much time on the ball in the first half and we weren’t able to keep possession well enough which was disappointing, that’s not us, we are a good football team and we like to try and dictate the game but Airdrie were slightly better than us on Wednesday.

We have been in these situations many times throughout the season when you go a goal down by half-time, in a normal league game you only have 45 minutes to turn it around and we have done that on numerous occasions in the past, we now have another 90 minutes and another hell of a lot of football to be played.

Airdrie are a very good team and have had an excellent season under the guidance of Mark Wilson. They, much like ourselves take pride in trying to play the game in the right manner with neat passing and attacking throughout. I am sure with the way both teams set up it will make for a very entertaining game.

With regards to ourselves I have been delighted with the players commitment all season. As I mentioned in previous programmes there is no shame in finishing second to Livingston, with them being a full time team. Our lads went toe to toe with them for the majority of the season but unfortunately they just had too much for us in the end. The next nearest team to us in the table was our opponents today who  finished 10 points adrift in third. It is for that reason I am immensely proud of the players contribution and I hope they get the rewards I believe they deserve which is promotion to the Championship next year. Although finishing second is a great achievement we are aware it counts for nothing if we don’t back it up with promotion!

Testament to the good season we have had, I am delighted that Neil Parry, Andy Graham, Calum Waters and Jordan Kirkpatrick were all recognised by their fellow professionals and were named in the League 1 team of the year. I wouldn’t have been surprised if one or two others got a mention too.

I would like to finish by thanking you the supporters for sticking by us all season. Your support is never taken for granted and I can assure you that all the staff, players and board are extremely grateful and appreciative of the commitments you make on a weekly basis. Not only turning up here at home but travelling the length and breadth of the country at times too. Thank you for everything up to now and please continue to drive us on and ensure we are celebrating at the end of today and in Alloa in a week’s time, , the positive aspect for us is it is only 1-0 and we have plenty quality in our team and belief we can turn it around.

    Regards,

    Jim.
