    Jack Ross v. Airdrieonians

    Friday, September 30, 2016 7:04:33 PM

Good afternoon and welcome to the Indodrill Stadium for today's league fixture against Airdrie.

As always I would like to extend that welcome to all associated with today's visitors, from manager Kevin McBride and his staff, to the players and directors, and of course supporters who have travelled.

Kevin is a former team mate of mine from our time at Falkirk, and I am delighted to see him successfully pursue a career in coaching and management and there is no doubt that his team will provide a very difficult challenge this afternoon. I would also like to take the opportunity to pass on my best wishes to Eddie Wolecki Black as he continues his rehabilitation and I hope to see him back and fully involved again in the game in the near future.

Our last match here at the Indodrill Stadium was disappointing in the sense that we lost our long unbeaten record, however our response to doing so has been excellent, especially in the face of a difficult week which followed and included three fixtures away from home. The first of which saw the players demonstrate tremendous character to come back and win at Hamden, while the middle fixture against Celtic although resulting in defeat provided the players with the chance to demonstrate some of their attributes and they deserved all the plaudits they received in the aftermath of the match.

Finally, the final match of the three was undoubtedly the most frustrating as we conceded an injury time equaliser at Stenhousemuir. These three matches alone illustrate the demands of a league and cup season and the ups and downs they can provide. The comforting aspect for me as manager is that I know the personality and character of the players we have within our squad and they are absolutely focused on achieving this season and equally are resilient enough to deal with the set backs when they come along.

I would like to finish by paying tribute to the number of fans who have travelled to the recent away fixtures. It has been noticeable that both the amount and volume of the supporters is increasing and this backing both in away matches and here at the Indodrill is of huge benefit to the players. I hope that already this season the players are repaying your support and look forward to continuing to do so starting with today's match.

    Enjoy the game
