    Danny Lennon previews Livingston game

Last week saw us earn a fantastic point in our local derby with Falkirk. An undefeated Falkirk side came to Alloa full of confidence, but we created the better chances in the first half, working their keeper several times. Man of the match Michael Duffy was most unfortunate to see one of his efforts tipped onto the underside of the bar and bounce off the line. It is just a matter of time before he opens his account for us, as he is improving week on week. We dropped out the game a little in the second half and Falkirk took the lead through a penalty, which resulted in a red card for Jason Marr, who has been playing particularly well for us in recent weeks. Every neutral watching must have thought that was game over. However, we have been focusing on belief these past few weeks. Belief that no matter what is happening in the game, we have the ability to cause teams problems. Ultimately that proved the case when after defending well to keep ourselves in the game, we put Falkirk under pressure in the closing stages and Colin Hamilton struck a powerful volley to earn a much deserved point.

There are a lot of challenges ahead of us to earn the right to stay in this league for a record breaking fourth season in a row. There is no doubt in my mind that our group of players and coaching staff have the ability to make that happen. If we show the same level of belief we showed last Saturday, then I believe we will make it happen.

We were saddened by the news that Bobby Hopkins, director, and life long Alloa Athletic supporter had passed away only days before his 77th birthday. Bobby would have been delighted with our fight back last Saturday to clinch a draw in the last moments of the game and I can just picture his warm smile right now. We would like to dedicate our point on Saturday to Bobby and our thoughts are with the friends and family he leaves behind.

Today, we welcome Mark Burchill and his Livingston side to play for the prize of three very important Championship points. Livi have made a difficult start to their league campaign and come to Alloa with only one point on the board at this early stage of the season. There will be a real thirst for points from both teams and we expect a very exciting, competitive game here today.

With your help as our 12th man, let’s make our home advantage count. Get right behind the team, encourage our boys at every opportunity and enjoy the game.
