    Dougie Hill

In response to the article that was published in the Daily Record on Wednesday 16th September regarding a recent court case involving our captain, Dougie Hill, we would like to present the following statements from our captain and our manager:

“We are disappointed that our captain, Dougie Hill, has been involved in an incident prior to joining our club, that has now resulted in him being given a suspended sentence for unlawful wounding and assault. We cannot condone the incident, but we do wholeheartedly agree with the comments of the judge, who said that this kind of action was out of character for Dougie, a one-off incident in which he did not intend to hurt anyone. It was an error of judgment at the time that unfortunately led to someone being hurt. It is in the past now and Dougie is taking the punishment on the chin. I have managed Dougie at two different clubs and I can vouch for the type of person he is. He is always looking out for people, very responsible and keen to do the right thing. We appointed him as captain here not just on his footballing ability, but based on the quality of his character. We retain our belief in him as a player, a captain and as a person. We expect Dougie will carry out his community service flawlessly and move forward from this in the days ahead, with the full backing of everyone at the club.”
