    Danny Lennon v.Forfar Athletic

    Saturday, May 16, 2015 5:35:02 PM

Today, the final curtain falls on what has been another epic season at Alloa Athletic. Please rest assured that the players and coaching staff are determined to do all that we can to ensure that our season ends on a wonderful high note by winning this Championship play- off final.

Today is my 8th game as manager here, so I have only been a part of this season's journey for a short time. However, I want to thank everyone at the club for their incredible hard work this season. I have been tremendously impressed by the family atmosphere and dedication shown by each and every one of the staff at the club. I also want to thank you, the fans, for all your time, money and emotion that you have invested into supporting the Wasps this season. You support a wonderful club and all that you do for your club is greatly appreciated by the players, the coaching staff and the board of directors.

Our performance and result in the first leg of the play-off semi-final against Brechin City was first class. We coped well with a difficult surface, dominating in every department, creating good chances and scored two quality goals. Our second leg performance was out of character for us and we have learned a great deal from that as a group. We have analysed it, talked it through and highlighted what we need to do in order to show our strengths in this final game.

Our focus in this remaining fixture of the season is to play true to our strengths and bring the same level of performance and application as we did against Cowdenbeath, Dumbarton and our first game against Brechin City. Should we do that, I believe we will achieve the result we all so earnestly desire.

Today we welcome Dick Campbell and his Forfar Athletic team to Alloa to compete for a place in the Championship next season. They are hoping to play in the 2nd tier of Scottish football for the first time in 30 years, but we have our own agenda, as we compete to secure our place in the championship for an unprecedented third successive season. With your help as our 12th man, let’s make our home advantage count. Get right behind the team, encourage our boys at every opportunity and enjoy the game.
