Danny Lennon previews Brechin City game

    Saturday, May 09, 2015 4:54:00 AM

The phrase 'a must win game' is used more often than it probably should in football, but last Saturday's match certainly fell into that category for us. We knew what we needed to do and we prepared all week to get ourselves into a position where we could give our all to earn the victory required. Our performance could hardly have been better and we thoroughly deserved the 3-0 score line.

Facts always tell their own story and the fact that we didn't allow Cowdenbeath a single attempt on our goal in the second half, simply highlights how hard every single one of our players worked. My thoughts go out to everyone associated with Cowdenbeath as they now drop down a division. They are the club who gave me my start in management, but my allegiances are fully with Alloa now, a club I am very proud to serve. I was thoroughly delighted for everyone associated with our club and community that we live to fight another day in our mission to play championship football next season.

Our focus in the remaining fixtures of the season is to bring the same level of performance and application as we did against Cowdenbeath. Should we do that, I believe we will achieve the results we all so earnestly desire. So many people have mentioned that you need a little luck along the way, but in my experience, the harder you work the luckier you become.

Today we welcome Ray McKinnon and his Brechin City team to Alloa to compete for a place in the Championship play-off final. They are hoping to play in the 2nd tier of Scottish football for the first time in 10 years, but we have our own agenda, as we compete to secure our place in the championship for an unprecedented third successive season. With your help as our 12th man, lets make our home advantage count. Get right behind the team, encourage our boys at every opportunity and enjoy the game.
