Danny Lennon appointed new manager Alloa Athletic
Mike Mulraney introduces new Alloa Athletic manager, Danny Lennon

I would like to thank you all for coming along to the Indodrill Stadium today, you all know we have been without a manager for a couple of weeks now and partly the reason for that is we are comfortable with our backroom team but we also wanted to wait for our number choice, we wanted Danny Lennon here as our manager from the list of candidates from the day the vacancy became available. So today we are very happy that we can present Danny Lennon as the new manager of Alloa Athletic FC. It goes without saying that we are incredibly happy to bring him here, his track record and credentials are well known and he will be an outstanding addition to our team here and we hope he can lead us on as we anticipate, in the manner his whole career has been which has been wonderful successful in the game is well known and respected, we are delighted he has agreed to join us on a contract until the end of season 2015/16.

    Danny Lennon responded to questions:-

    1.     Firstly welcome to the club and are you looking forward to the challenge, which is a big one with only five league games left to keep club clear of relegation?

Very much, there are good quality players at this football club but I will look to make sure we strike that right balance, but what really sold the club to me to come to this football club, was the chairman, I loved his vision, what he has done over his ten year period here, and what he continues as his vision for the football club and I am delighted to play my part in that.

    2.     A nice easy start for you away to Champions, Hearts?

Yes it’s a difficult one – so all the best Paddy!

We are running out of games after a long hard season, but the Championship out with Hearts this season has been incredibly competitive and a joy to watch and there are club’s still playing for the play off’s at the top and bottom of the league where we find ourselves at this moment, but I certainly believe with the quality of the group of players we have here we can give ourselves every opportunity to go out and win football games and putting points on the board.

    3.     To Mike, was it important to get Danny in at this time?

Yes at this time of the year there will be players going out of contract and that is always the managers call, so it was critical for us to get the right man, I could have appointed a quick man, but we wanted Danny here we believed Danny is the man for us, so whiter it was this week or last week it was important to get the right manager in and we think we have done that.
