    Game of few chances

    Sunday, January 25, 2009 9:16:00 AM

In a game of few chances “The Wasps” battled hard to earn a draw against league leaders Raith Rovers, indeed in the second half the best chance of the game fell to Dougie Wilson who had been put clear by a pass from Stuart Noble who was making his home debut since coming on loan from Airdrie United, but Jinky’s shot was pulled wide off the post, indeed not long after Brown Ferguson went closer, but his effort was cleared off the line by Raith Rovers defender Craig Wilson. It was a game of few chances for either team, Raith Rovers had started the game brightly but in the second half Alloa Athletic had the best of the play and with more presence in front of goal could well have taken full points. Manager Allan Maitland is hopeful to have at least one new signing before next Saturday’s important game against Arbroath, but as has been pointed out before, the club will only post details on signings when it has happened and not purely speculation. However Steven McKeown did join Albion Rovers on loan till the end of the season on Saturday morning prior to their game against Cowdenbeath at Central Park. Steven like Fraser Forrest is another player who has been a great servant to the club but needs to be playing games and hopefully his period with Albion Rovers will help him achieve this.
