Alloa Athletic Chairman Mike Mulraney statement to press

The manager Barry Smith, spoke to me after the game at Dumbarton today and despite my best persuasive powers  to try and convince him to the alternative he has decided that he wants to give someone else the chance for the final quarter of the season. I think it wasn’t required, he has been an excellent manager for us and we are in the Petrofac Training Cup Final for the third time in our history and we are still in with a great shout of being in this league next season, especially if we play like we did today but he has taken this decision out of my hands so therefore reluctantly I have had to accept the position and we wish him all the best, he is fantastic manager who will have a great career in management in the future and I hope he looks back fondly at his successes with Alloa Athletic over the past two season and for the team who are a great bunch of guys, but we must now look to move on to next week and see where it takes us.
