    Wasps draw Ayr United

    The draw for the William Hill Scottish Cup 3rd Round, took place today at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh, to allow legendary comedian Billy Connolly to help with the draw, where Billy Connolly is currently performing as part of his High Horse Tour.

    Ties to take place the weekend of Saturday 1st November 2014.

    Alloa Athletic and Ayr United have only ever met in the Scottish Cup in two previous occasions, with each side claiming one victory each. The most recent meeting took place at Recreation Park in Season 1997/98 with Ayr United winning 3-0 thanks to an Ian Ferguson hat-trick, in an Ayr United side which included ex Wasp Andy Millen. The only other tie also took place at Recreation Park in Season 1981/82, when Second Division Alloa Athletic defeated First Division Ayr United 2-1, thanks to goals from Drew Paterson and Alan Holt. However by the end of the Season “The Wasps” were promoted as runners up behind Champions Clyde, after “The Wasps” gained promotion in the final day of the season, defeating Forfar Athletic 1-0, thanks to an early Ian Smith goal.
