    Dundee Preview

    Saturday, April 26, 2014 6:36:52 AM

Today I would like to extend a warm welcome to Paul Hartley & Ray Farningham, the players, supporters and directors of Dundee FC as they visit Recreation Park for the penultimate Scottish Professional Football League Championship fixture for 2013/14.

Today will be another intense game in front of our biggest crowd of the season, there are always going to be twists and turns at this stage of the season. The most important thing for Alloa Athletic is that we take something from today’s game.

I didn’t think there was much between the teams at New Douglas Park last Saturday against Hamilton Accies. At the end we looked the more likely to score and credit to the players who put Hamilton Accies under a lot of pressure. The players response after going behind was great, they are a great set of boys who worked very hard, as they do in every game and by the end of the game it was us who looked the more likely of the teams to score and credit to the players for that. It was a nervy finish you could feel it in the stadium and it was credit to the players for going and putting that pressure on Hamilton. We were disappointed not to take something from the game but I cannot ask more in terms of work rate from the players. We are in a good position in the fact we are four points above Cowdenbeath – but the boys know they will need to work hard to maintain that. Today will just be another game for Alloa, albeit the return of Paul Hartley with his Dundee side, it is an important game for both sides but it will be treated just as any other game. Today, we need to cut out the errors which cost us last Saturday and with that effort and commitment, which the players have shown since I’ve come in, it will take us through.

The supporters deserve it for their backing, it would be good to secure our Championship status for next season in front of our own fans. I know the players will do everything in their power to keep us in this division. I believe it, please get behind the team today, your vocal support can make a difference, enjoy the game.
