  • Paul Hartley previews Albion Rovers Game

    Saturday, April 27, 2013 3:30:48 AM

Today I would like to extend a warm welcome to Todd Lumsden and James Ward, the players, supporters and directors of Albion Rovers FC as they visit Recreation Park for the second time this season for today’s SFL Irn Bru Division Two match, our penultimate league game prior to the season end play off’s. We didn’t play well last week against East Fife but I can’t say that too often about the players at the club, they have been great and congratulations to them for getting into the play off’s, which is a great achievement from just coming up from Division Three the previous season, we didn’t know how it would turn out this year but the players have been brilliant, their consistency has been good, we have played some good football and had some outstanding performances by certain individuals. We now look forward to the play off’s and will look to try and win it, we have given ourselves a chance with two games against Brechin City and we want to win them, that’s why we are in it.

Today’s game against Albion Rovers will be another tough game, they had a great result last Saturday beating Brechin City 3-1, a result which didn’t surprise me, because I know how tough it is at Cliftonhill, so we will need to be aware of that and play to our potential again, we have been playing well, apart from last Saturday so the players will be ready. I will look to make one or two changes to freshen things up, possibly some of our younger players who deserve the opportunity. We will look to be positive on Saturday and bounce back and go into the play off’s with a positive, winning momentum.

I’ve spoke to some of the players for next season but we need to see where we are and what Division we will be playing in which will dictate our playing squad budget, but we want to be in the First Division.

Your support, as always will be vital, it would be good to see some more numbers at the games, a good home support in the play off’s could be a great help and backing for the players, the players deserve it as the football they have been playing this season has been attractive. We will look to play as we can, not changing our style of play and go out and have a go and see where it takes us, enjoy the game.

    Paul Hartley
