Paul Hartley previews Queen's Park Game

    Saturday, December 10, 2011 4:38:41 PM

Today I would like to extend a warm welcome to Gardner Speirs, the players, coaches, supporters and committee of Queen’s Park FC as they visit Recreation Park for the first time this season.
We are looking forward to today’s game against Queen’s Park, a side like ourselves who look to play football, although we managed to win the game at Hampden Park 3-1, thanks to a Kevin Cawley double, the second goal as good as many famous goals which have been scored at such a historic football stadium, Queen’s showed on the day that they themselves can play when given the opportunity. We have had a few draws in our last three games but I have been pleased with our play, however we just need a little bit of a cutting edge in the final third of the pitch, we have been creating the chances, the build up play has been good but we need to be more clinical in front of goal. We will not change our style of play and look to play good passing football and I’m sure this will help us in our aim to win promotion at the end of this season. We are currently on a five game unbeaten run which builds confidence, we have to be positive and try and take the game to Queen’s Park. On the player front, I was pleased to extend Kevin Cawley’s contract until the end of next season, Kevin has been brilliant this season, no more so than in our last game against Queen’s Park at Hampden earlier in the season when he scored a double. I am also looking to bring in a couple of loan signings prior to today’s game to add to the competition for places in the team as we enter a busy period of football. On the down side we are likely to be without Graeme Holmes & Stevie Masterton today, that is why I am keen to bring in more depth to the squad.
However, I know that every player who is selected to play today will give everything in trying to win this match and maintain our unbeaten home form in the league.
Please continue to give us your backing today, it makes a big difference to myself and the players, lets hope we can give you the correct result and we can enjoy a successful outcome.
