Paul Hartley reflects on Dumbarton game

    Saturday, July 16, 2011 5:16:34 PM

Dumbarton gave us far less room than we have had in some of the other pre season games and took their goals well, however we have played better ourselves especially the first 30 minutes on Thursday night against Queen of the South. Dumbarton had good possesion and took the game to us in the first half, we needed to start the game at a higher pace and take a hold of the game especially at home. We had chances in the game and were presented with a great opportunity to draw level right at the start of the second half, but Darren Young put his spot kick over the bar and were punished a minute later when their "Trialist" No. 11 broke clear and scored his second goal of the game. In the second half we made sure we used all the players which were stripped today which sometimes made the game stop, start, but this is the time to find out our strengths and weaknesses. Delighted Craig Campbell scored his first goal for the club, as a striker it is always good to get on the scoresheet as soon as possible for any new club. There was no injuries picked up in the game and we now look forward to facing an Aberdeen team on Wednesday evening before our visit to Peterhead next Saturday for our First Round Ramsden's Cup tie and the start of the new season.
