    Paul Hartley after 1st game

I enjoyed the game, it’s our first game and we had a lot of trialists playing who don’t know each other, its their first time together so I was pleased, especially in the second half – we tried to pass the ball that’s what we have said from the first night of the pre season, we want to be a passing team especially on this pitch. I enjoyed it, the goals we could analysis the goals all day, some of our own doing but the result didn’t matter, I wasn’t that impressing the result was as important as the performance and our fitness levels, that is what pre season games are all about. We could go and win every pre season game and go into our first competitive game and not win it, so the results in pre season are not the most important thing, what interests me is the performance of the players and I was delighted. The job is challenging, all the things I thought it would be, its not part time for me it’s a full time job, we are still trying to get players in, we are trying to get the squad together as quick as we can but no I am enjoying the challenge and just looking forward to first game of the season.
Next Saturday we will travel to Oban to take part in the Keyline Challenge Cup tournament and we will travel with between 18 and 20 players because the games are half hour games and come thick and fast, so we will take a good squad up with us we will need everybody, as you have seen today we used 22 different players and I look forward to Oban as the team needs more games at this stage in the pre season, I have managed to organise a lot of games pre season and that’s where I can judge players coming to the club. I would still like to bring players in I’ve had a look at a number of “Trialists” on view today and I will make my decision on them on Tuesday – but I would still be looking to sign another 4 or 5 players, I still have certain positions that I will need to cover and I have been working non stop to bring players to the club. I am delighted with the players I have signed so far they showed today what they are all about. Darren Young is our most experienced player and will captain the side this season, he is a good leader.
