James Ward after Airdrie United game

This was a massive win for the club, what I was saying before the game is that we have told them all season they are good players and we brought them to the club to go and win the league, however because where we are and at this stage in the season leagues don’t lie and we have under performed. Or form has suffered through inconsistency and quality of performance in the last fourteen games, today I said to the players they have 5 games to go and now is the time to show the club and supporters why we brought you to the club, if you have any pride about yourself you should realise this club belongs at least in the Second Division if not higher than that and we need performances of you. The group of players are who we have, so it is up to them to dig us out and get us away from the wrong end of the table.
I thought in the first half we dominated the game and should have been more than one goal ahead, Airdrie United going down to ten men affected us more than them, it disrupted the flow of the game, it became more stop start and the referee blowing for petty fouls and speaking to players and we lost our rhythm back, Airdrie had a lot of possession but did not create anything and at the end when we wanted to take the pressure of ourselves, Nathan Taggart somehow contrived to miss two great opportunities, one of which he must score!
However hard as we made it for ourselves 1- 0, and a clean sheet and more importantly three points, it is all about points now, we take it move on, we are delighted.
