    Allan Maitland after Albion Rovers

    Saturday, July 04, 2009 1:42:15 PM

This morning we had a two hour training session on fitness and this afternoon we opted to get a touch of the ball rather than more work on fitness. Unfortunately we came up against an Albion Rovers side who are a bit sharper in their pre season than we are at the moment, but we have only used the ball once so far and that was on Thursday night, along with the fact Albion Rovers did not train this morning before this game, based on that Albion Rovers were sharper. If they had beat us 2-0 by the start of the season I would be concerned , but today was a decent run out for everybody, no more, no less. In the first half we started 4-4-2 , David Crawford looked very impressive in goals, McLune, Townsley, Buist & McCafferty in defence, Scott, Grant, Carroll & Agnew in midfield with Noble & Spence up front, at half-time we made eight changes to accommodate “trialists” and youth players, against an Albion Rovers first team squad who did very well, in the first twenty minutes when we were particularly ragged I thought David Crawford was excellent in that spell, as the first half developed we started to keep the ball better and started to get into their end of the park, but it was nothing more than a run out, if we had won the game 5-0, I would be saying exactly the same thing and also had we lost 5-0. Scott Walker missed the game due to still being on holiday, while Brown Ferguson also missed the game after having surgery on his ankle in the close season.
