Jack Ross after defeat at Dumfries
I think reflecting back on the last five games now, albeit one of them was not completed we have played teams that are around that Play-Off zone and competed really well against them, they were all 1-0 games, which was the Morton game up till it was abandoned, there is very fine margins in these games but I think what we are doing is that we are competing very well with these teams now, some of the games will fall our way and sometimes as today, others won’t. Today I don’t think there was a lot in the game full stop, there was limited chances, I think the wind was a factor, Queen’s had that advantage in the first half and it allowed them to dominate in stages but in the second half I thought we responded very well and could have taken something from the game but the important thing is again about the positives for us we can take again, coming down here to a difficult venue against a team which is competing for the Play-Off’s and going toe to toe with them was encouraging.

Scoring goals has been a problem all season, looking back we didn’t have a lot of chances in the first half but second half we had four or five good chances, Michael Duffy was unlucky with his shot which comes back off the crossbar and he created another chance for himself which Robbie Thomson did well to save, Isaac was dangerous, Kyle had the header at the back post that in itself is pleasing enough to go to places like Palmerston and create four or five good chances in 45 minutes of football, we will do ok. Isaac for a young man who is only come back from playing in the League below is getting better with each passing week, disappointed at the result but not our performance, I try not to concentrate on the league tables at the moment because it is about us trying to win games and coming down and trying to be positive and install that belief to the players that we can come and win and that is seeping in.

Next week we face St. Mirren, one of my old clubs but it was probably the game we didn’t perform having only took over on the Thursday prior to the game, we were a wee bit flat in that game but after that in each game we have played really well so that is something we what to put right next Saturday, it is a brilliant place to go and play, I was there when they moved into the new stadium, it’s a great venue, a good pitch so that’s exactly the games the players look forward to playing in this league, the incentive to go there and win is huge. Ian Flannigan unfortunately had to call off, due to a problem with his back which meant he was unavailable for today which was disappointing because he has been in really good form for us but that’s the nature of football, we are still trying to strengthen but it’s not easy, it’s an ongoing battle at the moment!
