Alloa Athletic's new first team strip for Season 2010/11 was unveiled tonight and will be worn on Sunday for the first time against East Stirlingshire in the CIS Cup tie at Ochilview. Manager Allan Maitland today also agreed to a new one year contract for Dougie Wilson who missed so much of last season after suffering a double fracture of his ankle against Raith Rovers on 11th April, 2009 which required surgery but recently Dougie has been working hard in pre season to get back involved this season, which is a great boost to the club and the player. Hugh Kerr has signed a short term contract till the end of August after impressing in pre season and hopefully this will be extended and Hugh will continue to impress.

"The Wasps" lost a last minute goal at Dens Park today against Alba Challenge Cup holders Dundee to lose 2-1, in a game five minutes earlier they looked like progressing to the next round. Alloa Athletic, who are the last team to beat Dundee in the Challenge Cup having defeated the Dens Park side 2-1 at Recreation Park in Season 2008/09 can again take great credit from the game. Dundee started the game the stronger side and although they had the best of the first half play, they had little or no penetration. In the second half Alloa grew with confidence and took the lead on 74 mins when Scott Walker headed in a Kevin McDonald cross. Two minutes later the game could have been all over when Andy Scott curled a 25 yard shot of the crossbar with Scott Fox beaten. However four minutes from time substitute Colin McMenamin headed home a great cross from debutant Gary Irvine and in the final minute with the home side side now looking more direct, the ball broke kindly for other substitute Sean Higgins who lashed home a shot past Alloa keeper Robertson for a late winner the home side barely deserved.

On Thursday 15th July, manager Allan Maitland arranged a bounce game against Bo'ness United to further test his players & trialists prior to the start of season 2010/11. Stuart Robertson played in goal even after the fact his wife had just given birth the previous day. The Wasps played some good flowing football and were 3-0 ahead at half-time, Andy Scott opening the scoring after 24 minutes, and Bryan Prunty scored a double, goals in 36 & 43 mins. The second half saw Alloa introduce eight changes, Bo'ness did pull a goal back with a cracking free kick in 62 mins, but two minutes later David Gormley made it 4-1 before scoring his second goal of the evening in the final minute with a bullet shot, which must have given him great confidence ahead of the new season.
